Sofrito: Tropical Discotheque Compilation

The gentlemen behind London’s Sofrito parties are true crate diggers par excellence, unearthing the finest in Tropical dancefloor fire. Strut is very pleased to have them in the selector’s seat for their debut compilation, Sofrito: Tropical Discotheque. Made up of nearly impossible to find vintage floor fillers, brand new edits, and even an exclusive cumbia from Quantic, the music on here is guaranteed to make your winter feel like summer.

So, is that Mighty Shadow track the one that’s on the Warehouse Mix? And attracted several comments, including my identification of the artist as Shadow. I was amused to see my identification was deleted. I never did find out the name of the track in spite of auditioning lots of Shadow.

I almost forgot! Looks like a great compilation, I’ll be buying it.

Yup, guilty, sorry about the cloak and dagger on that one, we were having a delicate time licensing the track! Good looking on the ID and thanks for your comments!

No problem. I know how the business is — or can be. Like I said, “amused.” I’ve just been checking Shadow for . . . what? 25 years now. Maybe more. My favorite Calypsonian! So glad you got the rights.

Here it is arrived safely in rainy and cold Washington state bringing a little tropical heat — and very welcome! Really nice selection of utterly solid tracks. This is what “World Music” sounded like almost 30 years ago! But not a single track I’m actually familiar with — so doubly welcome! Sofrito got the sound!!!!!!!!
