The Sofrito DJ’s Hugo Mendez, Frankie Francis and the Mighty Crime Minister will be joined by some Special Surprise Guests to help celebrate the summer in Sofrito style! Expect the heaviest Afro, Mambo, Highlife, Cumbia, Compas, Cadence, Soukouss, Samba and Caribbean sounds all night, aided by live Batucada and the Sofrito punch!

Since our last party with Quantic back in March we’ve been digging for the finest sounds around to surprise your feet and move your waist, so be prepared for an inimitable Sofrito summer celebration….

The party runs from 10 til very late and entrance is a paltry £8.  Please be aware that the venue is not quite as big as the space we had for the Quantic party – because of this please email us your names to guarantee entry – dancing room only!  Location to be revealed closer to the time…

EMILE OMAR (Nova – Domino / Fr)

Emile Omar est, depuis 2003, une des deux têtes chercheuses de sons qui se cachent derrière la programmation musicale de Radio Nova.

A ce titre, il est le co-auteur des compilations Nova Tunes et Nova Classics.

Les oreilles ouvertes à tous les horizons, il a co-signé, avec Rémy Kolpa Kopoul le tracklisting de la compilation Rare Groove Brasil #1 pour l’année du Brésil en France en 2005.

Il a aussi collaboré aux tracklisitng des séries Rare Grooves by Nova (Africa & Reggae), les 4 coffrets (Jaune , Noir , Bleu et Marron) tout en défendant son amour pour l’électro, et notamment la house, sur les dancefloors.

Emile Omar est actuellement le DJ résident des soirées Domino, qui proposent un voyage musical entre les années 60 et les productions d’aujourd’hui, au Point Ephémère. Il est aussi depuis septembre 2008 résident du club Moondoo à Hambourg.

For our first party of 2010 we are very proud to present an exclusive DJ appearance from QUANTIC alongside many special guests!

Taking control of an amazing new two room warehouse space in the heart of Dalston, we’ll be playing the best in hot and heavy Tropical sounds in a costeño style!

We are bringing together the peerless Family Atlantica (featuring Luzmira Zerpa and Jack Yglesias) and Quantic to present the heaviest Vallenato and cumbia sounds in an exclusive live set that you won’t be able to see anywhere else!  The raw sound of the Caribbean coast, bringing together Afro-Venezualan sounds and the folkore of Colombia.

All this alongside a live set from Afro Latin masters Drymbago, DJ action from Quantic himself and the Sofrito Soundsystem plus some special guests!

Once again, Frankie Francis joins the wonderful Turntables on the Hudson crew on Friday 21st August at Water Taxi Beach in Queens and at the brilliant Governors Island, Sunday Getaway on the 23rd. Killer line-up with Quantic, Beto (Soundway’s Latin compiler), Paulo of Superfly records fame and of course, Nickodemus, Mariano and Nappy G on Percussion. Rough!

We’re heading down to the Big Chill festival this weekend to spread some Sofrito sounds – come and join us!
We will be playing from 10-midnight on Friday night alongside Mr. Scruff at his fabulous tea tent, and on the Sailor Jerry stage 4-5:30 on Saturday afternoon.
